BLACK DAY - 14 Oct,2017

14th Oct,2017 marks as a black day for the Somali people in general after a devastating lorry explosion had basted out at one of the business street junctions in Mogadishu exactly at Zope Junction. This is the first of its kind ever recorded and witness in Somalia and Mogadishu through the life span of the decades of wars almost 30 years none of this explosion magnitude had happened in Somalia.

Over 320 dead toll and 500 + injured is a nationwide disaster and massacre for the Somali people in general and across the world for such vast attack to innocent people in Mogadishu, the scrutiny of explosion not only result loss of loved ones but it will forever remain a historic traumatic day for all of us as Somalis worldwide. Some of the victims were so burnt they could be recognized for burial and over 122 bodies were all collective to be backed their remains in bags without not identified whose relatives he/she was and that is such heart melting scenario and worst trauma for any mothers or relatives to face.

The magnitude was such huge but some relentless and fearless philanthropic groups had step up to the scene response and especially thanks to Amin Ambulance and all the individuals and groups who timely managed to safe the injured ones and rushed them to the hospital for immediate response are the true heroes who saved many people that were injured at the scene of the explosion.

Another significant number got caught up under collapsed buildings, The SFG and all Somali leaders had step up to respond the disaster at Zope Junction from President, MPs, Government workers, Youth groups and all respective community groups. What Somali faced on 14th Oct,2017 is undoubtedly one of the worse attacks in the world and the Somalis in & out of the country had shown solidary and collectively condemned the disastrous attack in Mogadishu.

The love and unity shown across the world will for surely be remember in the years to come, donations of both blood and money had being significantly being done from Mogadishu, Kenya, USA and many other parts of the world.

Amid of deep morning, Somalis have shown a strong and unshakable bond and unity during such hard time, the youth played a key role and mobilized themselves across all the major towns in Somalia and it is clear that despite the regional state political difference they youth are unified and totally doesn’t reflect the few politicians who are regional state-leaders.

In memorial of the Zope explosion the Benadir Regional Administration (BRA) had renamed and promised to erect a memorial tower in remembrance of the deceased ones. 14th Oct,2017 will remain a black day in the history of Somalia.
